  2. b. Ephesians 1:4–6; 2 Thessalonians 2:13–14

    Ephesians 1:4–6

1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

1:4 For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love 1:5 He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, 1:6 to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One.

    2 Thessalonians 2:13–14

2:13 But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth. 2:14 To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  3. c. Romans 9:17–18, 21–22; Matthew 11:25–26; 2 Timothy 2:20; Jude 4; 1 Peter 2:8

    Romans 9:17–18; Romans 9:21–22

9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth." 9:18 Therefore God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden. 9:21 Does not the potter have the right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use? 9:22 What if God, intending to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the vessels of His wrath, prepared for destruction?

    Matthew 11:25–26

11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

11:25 At that time Jesus declared, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 11:26 Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.

1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

1:4 For certain men have crept in among you unnoticed-ungodly ones who were designated long ago for condemnation. They turn the grace of our God into a license for immorality, and they deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

    1 Peter 2:8

2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
